Overview

The SEM 818F is a track-type tractor designed for dozing, grading, stockpiling, material spreading and ripping. It meets the needs of general and heavy construction, road construction, mining, coal handling and agriculture applications.

Equipped with a Weichai WD10 engine delivering up to 140 kW / 190 hp and an electronically controlled hydrostatic transmission system, the 818F combines power, maneuverability and productivity. Its F Series design, multiple track shoe widths, various blade configurations and multi-shank ripper allow it to adapt to a wide range of working environments.

Proven Performance

The fully hydrostatic transmission helps boost productivity. Counter-rotation, power turn and infinitely variable speed improve maneuverability and efficiency. The larger fuel tank extends operating hours, while optimized center-of-gravity weight distribution improves balance and stability. The robust and more powerful mechanical engine delivers superior durability and excellent fuel efficiency.

The spacious cab with easy-to-operate controls improves operator comfort. The stylish new F Series design, six-way adjustable seat, exceptional visibility and 8-inch main display allow the operator to easily view machine settings and features.

Exceptional Reliability

World-class original pumps and motors, blades made from high-tensile-strength steel with strong box-section design and structures analyzed using Finite Element Analysis all contribute to machine reliability. The final drive with double-stage reduction and wet-type brake, together with the modular cooling system designed to withstand ambient temperatures from -40°C to +48°C, further enhance durability in demanding environments.

Enhanced Reliability

The dual-path hydrostatic drive system, using electronic control technology from a world-class supplier, delivers industry-leading reliability. The Weichai mechanical engine, with 7% increased power, provides durability and dependability. The final drive combines double-stage reduction, spur gears and a planetary structure to improve transmission efficiency and service life. Machine structures are analyzed using FEA and OMSA to identify and reinforce high-stress areas. The equalizer bar, pivot shaft, one-piece track roller frame, segmented spring recoil system and wet multi-disc brakes contribute to reliability and braking performance.

Outstanding Versatility and Productivity

Compared with powershift machines, Caterpillar’s proven electronic load-sensing system improves productivity. Infinitely variable speed, counter-rotation and power turn functions ensure smooth and efficient operation. The pilot-controlled implement hydraulic system improves operator comfort and precise control. The modular single-plane cooling system can operate in extreme ambient temperatures from -40°C to +48°C while contributing to fuel efficiency. The 410 L fuel tank extends operating time to 2 to 3 working shifts.

Lower Operation Cost

The integrated hydrostatic oil tank and hydraulic oil tank allow longer maintenance intervals and reduced maintenance costs. The Electric Pressure Override, EPOR, function prevents high-pressure overflow and reduces heat load.

Leading in Class Serviceability

Maintenance-free, lifetime-lubricated idlers, track rollers and carrier rollers simplify servicing. The implement distribution valve, equipped with a pressure testing port, is installed outside the hydraulic oil tank for easier access and reduced maintenance time. The standard diagnostic display, covering both the engine and hydrostatic system, allows quick troubleshooting.
